The countdown to the 32nd South African Music Awards (SAMA32) sponsored by the Motsepe Foundation has entered an exhilarating new chapter with the announcement that multi-award-winning rap icon Cassper Nyovest and media powerhouse Zanele Potelwa will co-host this year’s spectacular ceremony, set to take place at the iconic Sun City Superbowl in North West on 15 August 2026.
SAMA Spokesperson Unati Gwijaexplained that “Cassper Nyovest is the best person to usher in the Homecoming Edition, as a bona fide of the North West while Zanele equally embodies the theme “The Future Sounds Like Now Now”. Bringing together two of South Africa’s brightest and most influential personalities, the pairing promises an unforgettable evening of glamour, laughter, celebration and world-class entertainment as the nation’s finest musical talent is honoured on its biggest stage.”
In response to the exciting news, Nyovest said, “I’m very excited to be going home and reuniting with the SAMAs in such an incredible way. It’s an honour to follow in the footsteps of legends like HHP and Kabelo Mabalane (Bouga Luv), who have also hosted the SAMAs. I’ve got so much to say about it, but if I had to put it in a nutshell, I’m simply excited and deeply honoured. I’m also really looking forward to working with Zanele Potelwa. I look forward to learning from her while also bringing my own energy and vibe to the stage. Together, I think we’re going to create the kind of hosting experience people will remember for years to come.”
For Zanele Potelwa, hosting South Africa’s premier music awards represents a dream come through and another milestone in a career that continues to soar. She said: “It feels UNBELIEVABLE!!! All Glory to Jesus Christ my heart is pumping custard because this is a dream come true!! All those interviews meant everything to me and I’m so grateful for them and to every person that was part of them and the fact that it truly was all leading to this moment? What a surreal moment.”
SAMA32 once again showcases the transformative power of cultural events to elevate destinations and drive tourism. Hosted in the North West, the awards invite visitors to experience the province’s rich heritage, vibrant landscapes and warm hospitality while celebrating the very best of South African music.
